Descending on the Dallas Karting Complex for the opening round of the Cold Stone US Open series powered by MAXSpeed Entertainment, CRG USA’s Sabré Cook would throw her hat into the mix in the Elite Shifter division. Competing against some of the world’s top European drivers, Cook remained consistent throughout the weekend scoring a solid podium result in the main event, and left the first event weekend as the championship point leader.
“I really like the US Open program and the different format,” explained Cook. “Though the weather was not the greatest, the series was able to get all the heat races and main events complete. It was a great start to a new national program and I am looking forward to competing at my home track in Grand Junction, Colorado in late June.”
Qualifying her CRG in the fourth position, heat race 1 saw her in an intense battle with five-time world champion and teammate Davide Forè. In heats 2 and 3 Cook drove smart and consistent to finish with two more second place finishes and a third in heat 4. Starting the main event from the outside of the front row, Cook would shoot to the point with the hole shot and lead early during the fourteen lap main event before dropping a wheel in one of the many puddles around the track, allowing Forè to sneak by for the lead. Cook would fight Lennox for second before falling back in the late stages to cross the line in P3.
Cook continued, “The Elite Shifter class may have been small in size but the drivers were mighty in experience. I would like to thank my teammate, race winner and five-time world champion Davide Forè for all the help, hard work and support throughout the weekend.”
Cook left the Dallas Karting Complex facility with 470 points, ten points ahead of Forè in the championship battle thanks to her consistent heat race results. With an increase in points for rounds two and three in the series, the championship battle will go down to the wire.

Sabré Cook is a rising female motorsports star. Completing her eleventh year in karting, the 20-year old earned the Superkarts! USA S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto championship in 2012.
